Traditional gym practices are typically pretty wasteful and unsustainable. From single-use plastic water bottles, to apparel made from plastic - the environmental cost is no joke.

But what if I told you there are simple eco-hacks you can make to be easier on the earth, while actually enhancing your fitness results at the same time? Sustainable choices that make you feel like a million bucks while giving back to the planet?

Here's 8 ways we can all make our workouts a little greener.

Eco-Friendly Fitness Tips

Walk, or ride a bike to the Gym. Cutting carbon plus boosting your metabolism = win win. Carpooling with friends, or taking public transit are awesome too.

Byobot (Bring Your Own Bottle). Plastic pollution is a real SOB. Keep a reusable bottle on you at all times to stay hydrated while reducing waste. Grab an aluminum or glass one for extra eco-points.

Second-hand Strength You don't need this season's brand new kicks or outfits. Buy gently used athletic gear from thrift stores or re-sale sites to reduce your carbon footprint.

Go Natural. Every time you wash your polyester or synthetic gym clothes, you're releasing millions of microplastics into the waterways. Use workout clothing made from natural materials like cotton and hemp and the fishies will love you.

Properly Recycle Your Workout Gear. When your kicks are blown out or clothes are too funky, don't just toss them. Use a service like Ridwell, Trashie or Retold to make sure they get fully recycled.

BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat). Using shared mats at the gym is good when you're in a pinch, but if you invest in a high-quality personal yoga mat instead made from natural rubber or cork, it could last you longer, and biodegrade quicker.

Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen. Is your SPF slowly killing ocean life? Make sure to choose a reef-safe, mineral sunscreen like Ginger Armor before hitting the beach or trails. The bottle is even recyclable.

Pack Smarter Snacks. All those individual snack packaging creates crazy amounts of waste. Prep larger portions and use reusable containers.

BONUS: Choose Plant-Based. Swap out whey protein for pea, soy or other plant-based protein powders. Better for the planet than dairy-based options.

Making simple eco-friendly adjustments to your fitness game is a triple win: You'll save money, level up your own health, and actively support a healthier planet for the future.
